General History

#7117 is the Regera crash test chassis. It was constructed in 2017 with the sole purpose of proving the durability of the Regera under all sorts of duress for the purposes of homologation. Traditional auto manufacturers can simply build a number of cars for crash testing, using them and then scrapping them. Given how few cars Koenigsegg builds, and the cost of each chassis, the company had to innovate when crash testing the Regera. Instead of having multiple crash test cars, they built a single car that could be repaired between tests and thus endure everything they threw at it. Lots of the testing endured by this chassis was recorded and published to YouTube (video below), and includes various body panels being hit with a hammer as well as the doors being slammed as hard as possible. This car surviving all of the duress it was put through is a testament to the strength of carbon and Koenigsegg’s design. This chassis has not been seen since crash testing and is assumed to still reside inside the factory in Sweden. It is not known whether it has been scrapped.

Exterior Spec

This car does not have a spec given it exists solely for the purposes of crash testing. The exterior is comprised of unfinished carbon body panels, essentially the Regera at its most stripped down. The car was shown sporting aluminium wheels. The car was not fitted with external badging, as it doesn’t impact crash durability and would be an unnecessary added cost if included.

Interior Spec

The interior of this car is unfinished, with exposed wiring and no infotainment system. The seats and part of the dash appear to be finished in a mix of Blue and Black Leather, and possibly Alcantara.
