This Athlete is Building the NFL’s Best Car Collection… including a Koenigsegg Jesko!
Grossing $18 billion per year, the National Football League (NFL) has the highest revenue of any sports league in the world. With superstars making eight-figure salaries, it is no surprise that many players are the owners of some expensive cars.
Chiefs Quarterback Patrick Mahomes has a Ferrari F8 Tributo and Ferrari 812 Superfast in his garage, each worth about $400,000, while Browns Defensive End Myles Garrett has a $500,000 McLaren 765LT. The Lamborghini Urus, as well as Rolls-Royce models like the Cullinan and Wraith, have become so synonymous with professional athletes that they might as well be normal traffic in these circles.
However, in a sea full of Uruses, one player stands out.
Arizona Cardinals linebacker Josh Sweat has excellent taste in cars, and thanks to his recently-signed four-year deal worth up to $76.4 million, he has the means to make his automotive dreams come true.
His garage includes a 2015 McLaren P1, a hybrid hypercar worth about $2 million, as well as a heavily-modified 2008 Koenigsegg CCX. This duo alone, which he has already owned for a few years, amounts to the NFL’s best car collection. However, Sweat’s latest addition takes his garage to the next level.
Earlier this year, Sweat purchased a Koenigsegg Jesko. Originally delivered to Poland and sourced for Sweat through a European Koenigsegg dealer, the Jesko is one of the fastest, most advanced, and most valuable modern hypercars. After a lengthy wait, Sweat’s Jesko landed in Arizona last month, much to his excitement.
Deemed by Koenigsegg to be a ‘megacar’, Sweat’s Jesko produces up to 1,600hp on E85 biofuel thanks to an optional $250,000 Environmental Power Upgrade. The $3.5 million car is, at time of writing, one of just nine Jeskos residing in the United States.
This Jesko, chassis #7292, is painted in Battle Grey and has Sweet Mandarin (orange) accent stripes. In addition to this grey-and-orange paint, the car features ample carbon fibre parts, including AirCore Carbon wheels, carbon wing mirrors, and an exposed carbon central ‘Slipstream’ stripe. Underneath the car’s removable targa rooftop sits a Lava Orange leather interior, an eye-catching pop that ties in perfectly with the exterior design.
We caught up with Sweat about the latest addition to his collection, and he had lots of praise. “The car is amazing and has plenty of good things about it. The wing being my favorite part of the car by far,” he said. “The next being how fast the light speed transmission actually shifts,” referring to the proprietary nine-speed multi-clutch transmission found in the Jesko, built in-house at Koenigsegg.
According to the company, LST has “seven wet, multidisc clutches in a compact, ultra-light package” and is “capable of upward and downward gear changes between gears at near light speed”, allowing “for totally seamless acceleration or deceleration.”
We asked Sweat about his plans for the Jesko, too. He plans on going to both events and rallies with the car, hoping to be “a lot more active in the [car] community”, even hosting his own events soon. Mostly, though, he is “excited about what this car means to me finally starting [his] YouTube and Instagram pages,” sharing with enthusiasts his passion for cars.
“There was no better way [to start] than with a Jesko and a CCX!”
